4:10(a)(7): “ Games shortened by reason of curfew, rain, darkness or other
acts of God before they have become regulation games shall be resumed from
the point of termination
- Minor League Only:
In the first four (4) innings of any regular season or local post season
tournament game a team may score only a maximum of six (6) runs per inning.
- Local League Option
3:03(e): “FREE SUBSTITUTION ON DEFENSE”
- With the exception
of the pitcher, any player may enter the game on defense in any
defensive position as many times as deemed necessary by the team
manager.
- With the exception
of the pitcher, players may enter the game ONLY at the beginning of each
team’s defensive inning except for injury or ejection. A pitcher being
replaced by a player from another defensive position must leave the
mound, but may remain in the game at another defensive position. A
pitcher being replaced, AFTER the start of the defensive inning, by a
player from the dugout/bullpen must leave the game and cannot assume
another defensive position until the start of the team’s NEXT defensive
inning. Entering the game on defense DOES NOT count as
entering/reentering on offense for the purposes of Rule 3.03(a)
- All Non-Starters shall
enter the game on defense by the top of the Third (3rd) inning.
The penalty for the 1st offense shall be a warning from the
league vice president to the head coach. The penalty for the 2nd
offense shall be a one (1) game suspension for the head coach. Upon the 3rd
offense, the Board of Directors shall decide the penalty to the head coach.
- In weeks where teams
play at least 2 games, ALL players shall start one of the first 2 games if
they are present for the start of each of those games.
- For each game played,
both coaches shall record each pitcher’s innings pitched and total number of
pitches thrown in the “Game Report Book” located in the press box
immediately following completion of your game.
- The manager must
remove the pitcher when said pitcher reaches the limit of his age group as
noted below, but the pitcher may remain in the game at another position:
Minor league pitch count
– 75 pitches O-Zone league pitch count – 85 pitches
Exception:
If a pitcher reaches the limit imposed above while facing a batter, the pitcher
may continue to pitch until that batter reaches base or is put out.
Each team must designate the scorekeeper or another game official as the
official pitch count recorder. These two pitch count officials must meet after
each complete inning and confirm the number of pitches thrown by each pitcher
during the preceding inning. They must be in complete agreement on number of
pitches thrown and then relay both counts to both team managers.
- If a pitcher throws
more than:
Minor league
– 60 pitches O-Zone league – 70 pitches
in
a game, then that pitcher must rest an additional 24 hours before pitching
again. Any count below those two numbers in these two leagues, the rest stays as
stated in the Dixie Youth rule book.
- At such time as there
are 2 outs in the inning, the team at bat may use a courtesy runner for the
current catcher. The courtesy runner must be the player who made the
prior out of the inning. If a team has 9 or less players then the courtesy
runner shall be the player who made the prior out of the inning. If a
courtesy runner is determined to be ineligible, a proper replacement (if
available) will be substituted.
- To start each extra
inning of a game which is tied at the completion of regulation play or
time-limit, the following procedure will be used, with all other game rules
applying:
- There will be one
out to start the offensive portion of the visiting team's extra inning.
The visiting team will place the last player who completed his/her at
bat during previous inning as a runner at second base. The visiting team
will continue batting in order in the line up with a 1 ball and 1
strike count on the first batter in the inning. All subsequent batters
in the inning will begin with a no ball and no strike count until the
third out is recorded ending the half inning. The home team then
follows the same process with their at bat.
- Continue with this
procedure until a winner is decided or two innings have been played.
After 2 extra innings a tie game will remain a tie, unless deemed
necessary to complete by the League VP.
- Minor League Only:
Each team is allowed only two offensive time outs per inning. Upon the 3rd
offensive time out of any inning, the offending coach will be removed from
the game. This does not apply to time outs for injury, equipment or for
conferences with the umpire.
- Teams will be allowed
to start and complete all regular season games with 8 or more players.
Forfeit will occur when less than 8 players are available for play. Play
may begin with 8 players without the need for the 15 minute grace period.
