Specific Rules of Play - Softball

2009

 

Dixie Softball Fast Pitch Rules will be used with the following local league options:

 

When on defense, FREE SUBSTITION will be allowed with no player playing in more than 2 more innings than any other teammate during any particular game.  (i.e.; if Player ‘A’ plays 6 innings, all other teammates MUST play at least 4 innings in that game.)  Violation of this rule may be grounds for removal of the coach from coaching all stars and/or coaching in the league.                                                                                                                                                        

           

8U League:                                                                                                  

                                                                                                                                                           

Use of pitching machine will not be permitted during games.  Coaches will pitch to their own team throughout game.

5 runs or 3 outs end the inning                                                                                                                                        

There will be a 1 hour 10 minute time limit for each game.  All innings started prior to time limit will be completed and considered the last inning regardless of score.

                                                                                                                                                                       

10U League:                                                                                                                                                            

                                                                                                                                                                       

A base runner will be able to leave the base at the release of the ball from the opposing pitchers hand.

A base runner will be permitted to advance to the next base at their own risk at the release of the ball from the pitchers hand.  Runner may only advance one base per pitch.

There is no limit to the amount of innings a pitcher may throw during the week, however proper coach’s discretion should be used to monitor fatigue during the game.

Coaches will not be permitted to pitch during the course of a game.

12U League:                                                                                                                                                            

                                                                                                                                                                       

A base runner will be able to leave the base at the release of the ball from the opposing pitchers hand.

There is no limit to the amount of innings a pitcher may throw during the week, however proper coaches discretion should be used to monitor fatigue during the game.

A batter will be permitted to advance at their own risk when the opposing catcher fails to catch a 3rd strike.
